Torque OBD2 User Manual: Connecting Torque Pro with Your AutoPi Device

For car enthusiasts and tech-savvy individuals, accessing real-time vehicle data is incredibly valuable. That’s why we’ve integrated ELM327 proxy support into AutoPi, enhancing its compatibility with popular mobile applications. This feature allows you to seamlessly connect your AutoPi device with third-party apps like Torque Pro on Android and Car Scanner on iOS, turning your smartphone into a powerful vehicle monitoring tool. This guide will walk you through the process of setting up ELM327 proxy with your AutoPi Cloud, enabling you to use Torque Pro and explore your vehicle’s performance data like never before.

Please note: ELM327 proxy support is available for legacy AutoPi devices from generation 2 and below.

Understanding Torque Pro and OBD2 Connectivity

Torque Pro is a leading OBD2 application renowned for its ability to interact with your vehicle’s Engine Management System (EMS). This sophisticated app taps into a wealth of sensor data from your engine, gearbox, and other electronic components, including ABS, wheel speed sensors, and airbag systems.

More than just displaying raw data, Torque Pro empowers car owners to deeply monitor their vehicle’s engine control units (ECUs) and efficiently manage diagnostic trouble codes. It’s an essential tool for anyone looking to understand their vehicle’s health and performance.

How AutoPi Enhances OBD2 Data Access with ELM327 Proxy

AutoPi Telematics Unit (TMU) connects to your vehicle’s OBD-II port and intelligently gathers data through CAN bus communication. This data is then made accessible via the AutoPi Cloud.

The integration of ELM327 proxy expands the functionality of AutoPi by acting as a bridge to mobile OBD2 apps. ELM327 is a popular interface standard for OBD2 adapters, and by enabling this proxy, AutoPi allows apps like Torque Pro, which are designed to communicate with ELM327 adapters, to read data from your vehicle through the AutoPi device. This means you can leverage the advanced data collection capabilities of AutoPi and visualize it in user-friendly mobile apps.

This setup is incredibly beneficial for monitoring fuel consumption, battery status, charging levels (for electric vehicles or hybrids), and comprehensive car engine diagnostics, all in real-time on your smartphone.
