How to Connect Your BlueDriver OBD2 Tool: A Step-by-Step Guide

Getting your Bluedriver Obd2 Tool Connected and ready to diagnose your vehicle is a straightforward process. This guide will walk you through installing the BlueDriver app and pairing your sensor to your smartphone or tablet, ensuring you can quickly access valuable insights into your car’s health. Whether you’re a seasoned mechanic or a car owner taking a proactive approach to vehicle maintenance, connecting your BlueDriver correctly is the first crucial step.

Installing the BlueDriver App

Before you can pair your BlueDriver sensor, you’ll need to install the BlueDriver app on your mobile device. Here’s how to do it:

  1. Open the App Store: On your smartphone or tablet, locate and open the “Play Store” app if you are using an Android device, or the “App Store” if you are using an iOS device (iPhone or iPad). You can also click here for the Google Play Store or search directly in the Apple App Store.
  2. Search for BlueDriver: In the search bar at the top of the store, type “BlueDriver” and press enter or tap the search icon.
  3. Install the App: Find the “BlueDriver” app in the search results, it’s usually easily identifiable by the BlueDriver logo. Tap the “Install” button to download and install the app on your device.

Pairing Your BlueDriver OBD2 Sensor

Once the app is installed, you can pair your BlueDriver sensor to your device. You have two options for pairing: in-app pairing and manual pairing through your device’s Bluetooth settings.

Option 1: In-App Pairing

Note: In-app pairing is the simplest method if you haven’t previously paired a BlueDriver to your device. If you are adding a second BlueDriver or have paired one before, you might need to use manual pairing.

  1. Turn on Your Vehicle’s Ignition: Turn your car’s ignition to the “On” position. This means turning the key enough to power the electronics, but you don’t need to start the engine.
  2. Plug in Your BlueDriver Sensor: Locate your vehicle’s OBD2 port. It’s typically located under the dashboard on the driver’s side. Plug your BlueDriver sensor securely into this port.
  3. Wait for the Blue Light: After plugging in, wait for the solid blue light on the BlueDriver sensor to turn off. This indicates it is ready to pair. Important: You have approximately 60 seconds to initiate pairing after the light goes out. If you exceed this time, simply unplug and replug the BlueDriver to re-enter pairing mode.
  4. Launch the BlueDriver App: Open the BlueDriver app on your smartphone or tablet.
  5. Tap ‘Connect’: Look for the ‘Connect’ button, usually located in the top right corner of the app interface, and tap it.
  6. Enable Location Services (Android): If you are using an Android device, the app will likely ask for permission to enable Location Services. Tap “Allow”. Note: Location services are required by Android for Bluetooth pairing within apps, but the BlueDriver app does not access your GPS or location data. If you prefer not to enable location services, use the manual pairing method described below.

  1. Scan for BlueDriver Sensors: Tap “Scan for BlueDriver Sensors” within the app. The app will begin searching for nearby BlueDriver sensors.

  1. Select Your BlueDriver: Once your BlueDriver sensor appears under “Other Available BlueDriver Sensors,” tap to select it.

  1. Confirm Pairing: If prompted to confirm a PIN or code, simply tap “Pair” or “OK”. If a PIN is requested, you can try entering “0000” or “1234”. Note: You may be asked for permissions like access to contacts or call history. These are not necessary for BlueDriver to function and can be left unchecked.

  1. Automatic Connection: After successful pairing, the app should connect to your BlueDriver automatically. If you experience any issues, you can access support through the app by going to the “More” tab and selecting “Contact Us”.

Option 2: Manual Pairing

Use manual pairing if you prefer not to use in-app pairing or if you are having trouble connecting via the app.

  1. Turn Off Ignition: Turn your vehicle’s ignition completely off and you can remove the keys.
  2. Plug in BlueDriver: Insert the BlueDriver sensor into your car’s OBD2 port.
  3. Wait for Blue Light: Wait for the solid blue light on the sensor to go out, indicating pairing mode is active. Remember, you have about 60 seconds for pairing.
  4. Access Bluetooth Settings: Navigate to your device’s Bluetooth settings menu. This is typically found in the settings app of your phone or tablet.

  1. Search for Devices: On some devices, you might need to tap “search” or “scan” to begin searching for Bluetooth devices. Look for a spinning wheel or progress indicator showing that your device is searching.
  2. Select BlueDriver to Pair: Once “BlueDriver” appears in the list of available devices, tap on it to initiate pairing.

  1. Confirm Passkey (If Requested): Some phones may ask you to confirm a passkey. If a confirmation window appears, tap “OK” or “Pair” to proceed.

  1. Start Your Vehicle and App: Now, turn your vehicle’s ignition back to the “On” position (or start the engine if needed for diagnosis) and launch the BlueDriver app.

  1. Connect in App (If Necessary): If the app doesn’t connect automatically, tap the ‘connect’ button in the top right corner of the app.

If you encounter any difficulties during the connection process, try removing the BlueDriver sensor, plugging it back in, and attempting to pair again. If problems persist, don’t hesitate to contact BlueDriver support for assistance. They are ready to help you get connected and start using your BlueDriver OBD2 tool for vehicle diagnostics.
